Science, the Arts and Civic Action: Just Some of the Programs Funded by the 2017-2018 BWEF Grants!
July 11, 2017

BWEF awards over $60,000 to Bristol and Warren schools, promoting innovation and educational excellence in the district.

The Bristol Warren Education Foundation (BWEF) recently announced funding of over $60,000 in educational grants to district schools for the 2017-18 school year. The amount covers 23 grants, initiated by teachers and staff in each of the schools of the Bristol Warren Regional School District. This funding continues BWEF’s long history of funding grants within the district that align with their mission of promoting innovation and student excellence.

BWEF Grants Committee chairman Tyler Dixon was delighted to inform each of the teachers with accepted applications over the last several weeks after his committee completed their diligent review and scoring process against detailed standards. “BWEF is pleased to be able to continue to support these exciting teacher-led initiatives,” said Mr. Dixon. “BWEF’s goal is to support innovative ideas and programs that impact all students in Bristol and Warren. We are equally thrilled to see several former grant ideas incorporated into the districts planning and funding for next year.”

Over the past ten years BWEF has funded over $400,000 in local school grants, and this year continues that tradition of providing students with new and varied opportunities of learning and instruction. The areas of study that will be supported include math, science, engineering, art, reading, geography, music, foreign language, nature exploration, history, problem solving, special education and health education.

“We are excited by all of the amazing ideas presented by the faculty, they continue to impress us with their innovative approaches to learning,” said Mr. Dixon. “Supporting these creative ideas that promote student excellence in our schools is how we fulfill our mission.”

Founded in 2007, BWEF is a nonprofit tax-exempt organization. Foundation board members are corporate and community leaders, parents, and alumni, who donate their time and talents in order to promote the mission of the Foundation. For more information on BWEF visit bwedfoundation.org.
